VOLUNTEER

The No More a Stranger Foundation relies on committed volunteers to provide important services to immigrant, migrant, and refugee clients. Because of the training required to volunteer and the significance of the service offered, we ask volunteers to make a six-month commitment.

POSITIONS

TRANSLATOR

Positions Open: 4
Hours:
Locations: remote
Language requirement: Fluency in Spanish and English

Translator will translate written client testimonies, witness statements, and other documents into English to be submitted with client applications. Translator will be required to sign each document certifying that the translation is correct to the best of the translator’s ability. Translation work can be done on the translator’s own time as long as the documents are submitted in time for legal deadlines. Translator may work from any location but must have access to his or her own computer.

INTERPRETER

Locations: West Valley City, Utah; Ogden, Utah; Logan, Utah; Rexburg, Idaho
Language requirement: Fluency in Spanish and English

Interpreter will interpret communications between clients and legal volunteers. Interpreter will also provide interpretation services in legal interviews with government officers. Interpreter must attend monthly evening clinics as well as provide services during other hours as arranged between clients, legal volunteers, government offices, and interpreters. Some interpretation may be done telephonically.

OFFICE ASSISTANT

Locations: West Valley City, Utah; Ogden, Utah; Logan, Utah; Rexburg, Idaho
Language requirement: Spanish and English Fluency is preferred.

Office Assistant will attend monthly evening clinics. Office Assistant will welcome clients, schedule appointments, and assign client cases to legal volunteers. Office Assistant will assist legal volunteers with organizing legal documents, photocopying, and other needed tasks.

SECRETARY

Language requirement: Spanish or English is fluency required.

Secretary schedules appointments over the phone and through the No More A Stranger Foundation’s website. Secretary will work with office assistants to assign cases to legal volunteers. Secretary can work on the Secretary’s own time as long as calls and appointment requests are responded to in a timely manner. Secretary may work from any location but must have access to his or her own phone and computer.

INTERN

The No More A Stranger Foundation provides internship opportunities for students studying Spanish translation, pre-law, and law. The Foundation seeks dedicated interns who are committed to providing legal services to individuals from immigrant, migrant, and refugee backgrounds. Interns must attend monthly clinics as well as complete translation and/or legal work on their own time during the month. Interns will be closely mentored by accredited representatives and an immigration attorney.
